Describe a food you eat on special occasions.

    How to answer it

Describe the preparation, not just the dish: who makes it, how long it takes, why nobody bothers with it on an ordinary Tuesday. Effort is what makes a food ceremonial, and saying so gives you a direct route into the Part 3 questions without repeating your card.

    What moves the band

    • Food-process lexis: it's slow-cooked, it takes the best part of a day, we only make it once a year, from scratch.
    • The 'diets are changing' question wants a then-and-now contrast with one cause.

Part 3 questions reported with it

Part 3 follows the topic of the cue card, so these are the discussion questions the same candidates were asked next.

    1. What foods are eaten at festivals in your country?
    2. How do everyday meals differ from special meals?
    3. Why are ceremonial meals important?
    4. Are diets in your country changing?

These are candidate recalls. These are questions reported by test-takers after their exams, not official or leaked IELTS material. Wording varies by test version, location and memory. Use them for timed practice — never as a prediction of what you will be asked.
