    IELTS Speaking Part 1: Sleep

    The questions

Asked in this order, in one sitting.

    1. How many hours do you sleep?
    2. Do you ever take naps?

    How to answer it

Give the number, then qualify it — the qualification is the language. 'Seven on a good night, though it drops to five when I'm revising' does more for you than any amount of vocabulary hunting.

    What moves the band

    • Routine lexis: I'm an early riser, a night owl, I catch up at weekends, a power nap.

These are candidate recalls. These are questions reported by test-takers after their exams, not official or leaked IELTS material. Wording varies by test version, location and memory. Use them for timed practice — never as a prediction of what you will be asked.

Know the number. Now move it.
