IELTS Speaking Part 1: Feeling tired and getting rest

    The question

    Do you often feel tired?

    When do you feel tired?

What do you do when you feel tired?

Do you think you get enough rest?

    How to answer it

Four short questions and a real risk of four short answers. The second one is your opening: "when" invites a time of day AND a kind of tiredness, and distinguishing between the two — physically tired after training, mentally wrung out after a day of meetings — turns a one-line answer into a good one. The last question is an honest no for most people, and an honest no with a reason beats a vague yes every time.

    What moves the band

    • Tiredness has better words than tired: drained, shattered, running on empty, foggy, dead on my feet.
    • Time markers carry the second answer: around three in the afternoon, by the time I get home, halfway through the week.

These are candidate recalls. These are questions reported by test-takers after their exams, not official or leaked IELTS material. Wording varies by test version, location and memory. Use them for timed practice — never as a prediction of what you will be asked.
